Adirondack Balloon Festival

Adirondack Balloons in AirNew York's Largest Hot Air Balloon Festival The four-day event is the oldest and largest balloon event on the East Coast set against the backdrop of the beautiful Adirondack Mountains. WEATHER – All ballooning activities are weather dependent. Ballooning is a fair weather sport. Balloons will not fly in the rain. Winds must also be light in order for balloons to fly safely. Ideal conditions are for wind speeds to be 3-5 MPH. As wind speeds increase beyond 8-10 it is unlikely balloons will be able to fly. Flight updates are provided on our facebook site and on twitter for each flight and is shared shortly after the weather and decisions are shared with the pilots. We understand the weather can be frustrating but safety always comes first in our decision making. We are all volunteers , we are as disappointed as you are when they don’t fly. BALLOON RIDES - The Festival does not schedule or book rides. If you refer to the pilot section of the website, you will find details and pictures of our participating pilots and their balloons. Many of our participating pilots will book rides independently. If their phone number is listed, then they are willing to accept passengers. You can expect to pay in the range of $175-$225 per person for a balloon ride however each pilot sets his own price. BALLOON FLIGHTS- Balloon flights occur just after sunrise or close to sunset, refer to our schedule of events for times. Balloons do not fly during the day. You should plan on being present at flight times if you wish to see the balloons.

The New York Festival of Balloons

This event is organized and staffed solely by community volunteers. In 1997 the Dansville Balloon Festival was designated as the New York State Festival of Balloons. The festival features: •Six scheduled launches beginning Friday, 6 PM, Saturday and Sunday 6 AM & 6 PM, Monday 6 AM •Arts & Crafts Vendors •International Food Court •Free Entertainment •Rides & Amusements for children •Car Show Free Balloon GLOW on Thursday beginning at 7 PM. The goal of the festival is to provide entertainment and enjoyment to our spectators, bring visitors to our community, and share our profits with local charities. Over the years an average of 35,000 spectators per year visit our valley to enjoy the festival. The success of prior festivals made it possible to share profits with local charities and organizations. The beauty of an early morning flight is breathtaking as balloons gracefully float over our valley. The thrill of a mass evening launch is a real crowd pleaser. For those passengers taking their first flight, wonderful thoughts and memories will long endure. Though we are one of the largest events of its type, The New York Festival of Balloons, is a great deal more than hot air balloons.
